Goals, strategies, and delegation of resources are central to improving organizational outcomes. Many nonprofits want a strategic plan because it is expected by funding sources and it provides a rational foundation for fund raising. Strategic planning has many components and forms. We excel at developing compelling plans using available data and innovative engagement of key stakeholders. Our experience with government agencies is an asset to many nonprofit planning activities.

Any time direction, purpose or priority is unclear is the right time to engage in strategic thinking. While perceived lack of an adequate board my cause nonprofits to postpone planning, an effective planning process can identify which roles are missing from the board and attract prospective candidates to an organization. The forms that strategic planning services take include:

  • Comprehensive strategic planning process and documentation
  • Needs assessments and other data gathering
  • Goal setting and action planning for priority issues
  • Committee or full board sessions processing strategic issues
  • Program or project planning
  • Collaborative or community level planning
  • Public involvement process
  • Merger and strategic alliance exploration process
