July 1, 2011: Getting Past Paralysis PDF Print E-mail

It happens to the bet of us and certainly to boards. You want to move forward but you are afraid to make a wrong move.  You  heard somewhere that you should only solve certain problems a certain way.   Some of these popular myths are explored in one of Knotes NP’s biweekly links in an article by Jan Masaoka.  Where your perceived barrier is on this list or not, use this blog entry as an opportunity to move forward.

Tell your board colleagues that any legal and ethical action that might work is worth a try, that a best guess is better than inaction.  Nobody is ever going to pay to gather all the data and analyze all the alternatives anyway.  If the way to move forward that you are considering DOES make sense, so what is if it an outside-the-box solution or counter to myth and nonprofit folklore?  It is hot here is the Northern Hemisphere, energy levels are low but the clock is still ticking and the need for action persists.  Coach K says that it’s time to get Nike on it and “just do it!”
